eHow

Ehow is an excellent online learning tool that does not target a specific market nor does it cater to a particular age group, gender, nationality, etc. Ehow is a site that is geared towards a variety of different interests with more than 30 different categories. One of the best aspects of the site is that it acts as a resource for your everyday challenges through the help of their professionals. The site hires real experts in a variety of different fields whom come together to provide helpful feedback to the public. The Ehow library is not only available at anytime and anywhere but most importantly, it’s free. They have over more than 2 million articles and videos, a supportive online community and a place to share experiences which allows individuals to interact with one another.

A user can search through the site to learn how to cook, fix, build, plan, organize, budget, or even knit just to name a few options. The experts on Ehow give you amazing advice and inspiration to start something new which can quench anyone’s curiosity. As word of mouth continues to spread about the site, they currently experience over a million members that visit per month.

While Ehow offers a plethora of articles from experts in varying fields, I particularly enjoy the site because of their videos. Over the past few years of school, I have learned that I am a visual learner and I benefit more through demonstrations than by lecture. I had an interest in learning how to make chili and through the site I was able to watch a video that demonstrated the step by step directions on how to do so. While there are cooking shows on the television that demonstrate how to cook different items, this site offers more insight to its users. Unlike the television, Ehow actually takes the step by step approach to cooking opposed to having pre-prepared items (http://www.ehow.com/ehow-food/). In addition, Ehow breaks down their categories into sub-categories with examples like the food section having sub-categories like basics, family cooking, daily dishes, and entertainments. The great aspect of this feature allows individuals who have specific needs related to cooking to still have their questions answered. Also, the Ehow search engine allows anyone to search something of interest such as, “starting up a business” and a list of results will appear. http://www.ehow.com/search.html?s=starting+up+a+business&skin=corporate&t=all

Overall, Ehow is a great site that simplifies that research process for many individuals. The site does a great job of organizing its large amount of content which makes it easier to discover answers to specific questions. In addition, this site not only caters to those who learn by reading but to visual learners as well such as myself.
