Dropbox

Dropbox is a very useful and interesting program. This is because it allows you to send files, programs, music and pictures and more over the internet. The main purpose is to use cloud storage over the internet which allows users to share and store files and folders with other people across the internet as long as they share a common folder with them. A common folder is basically like a friend request where, in order to share files with someone you both need to have a folder with each other. This is not like a folder you create on the desktop but instead it’s a folder you create in Dropbox which allows you to send and share files with friends and family.

The audience that Dropbox is meant for can vary tremendously. It can be for a small group of people or for a large group of people. Multiple people can share a folder which allows them to send files to one another or you can have a folder for just one person to another. There is not a lot of knowledge needed to use Dropbox but however you need to understand how to set up the program. You also need a little bit of computer knowledge as well. As long as you know other people using Dropbox, and can understand how to add them and set up a folder it is relatively easy to use Dropbox. All you have to do is drag and drop what you want to send into the desired folder with the person that you want to share files with.

In order to use Dropbox you need to have internet capability. One of the more recent, newer functions of Dorpbox is the ability to access it on your cell phone with internet capability. You can only store up to 3GBs for free, or if you send requests to friends who make a Dropbox you can receive additional 250MB storage. You can also buy storage through Dropbox but if you just make sure your folders are empty then 3GBs are enough, unless you are sending a large file.

Lastly, Dropbox allows pretty easy interactive communication amongst its users. The different users are able to send and receive files at anytime. After you drag the files into the folder you don’t need to sit by your computer nor do you need to wait for the other person to remove the files. This can be done at anyone’s convenience without having to worry about the other person being there to accept the files. Broadcasting isn’t that big when it comes to using Dropbox because you need to be friends with the person in order to accept, receive and send files. The interaction is pretty low because all someone needs to do, after setting up the program, is to just drag and drop files. Lastly, it can be used for networking if you are friends with the person and you wish to send important files over to them. These files can be a résumé or application or any important document that the company is requiring you to complete. Without a doubt Dropbox is becoming more popular do to its simplicity and easy accessibility amongst its clients
