WhatsApp Messenger

WhatsApp Messenger is a multi-platform group messaging application that allows smartphones users to talk to one another for free.  The idea of WhatsApp Messenger is that instead of using SMS (text messages) which costs money, you can use the application and talk to your friends or co-workers without paying because it is sent over the internet.  This application uses push notifications so whenever you get a new text message from WhatsApp it will notify you right away when a new message comes to your phone.  It is similar to a Web 2.0 application because you can connect with others.

This application also lets you know when the person you are having a conversation with is typing and when he or she has read the message you sent them.  This idea is similar to BBM (blackberry messenger) but through WhatsApp Messenger all smartphones can have the software needed for the advanced messaging system.  You can also send audio notes, MMS (picture messaging), and video messages through WhatsApp Messenger.  If you want to save the conversation you are having  this application lets you do so! Everything that is said is saved until you delete it so if you forget what time that meeting was you scheduled with your co worker last week you can scroll through your messages and find it right away.

In WhatsApp Messenger you can also create groups where you can chat with several people at once.  You can create a group with your teammates, project groups, or just friends and talk to everyone at once.  It allows everyone to have access to the information in the conversation without having to send it individually to each person.  The conversation is in one place and you only submit your message once in the group and multiple people can have access to it.  This is a new application and because of this it is continuing to explore new technologies that would enhance the application.  WhatsApp Messenger is the up and coming way to communicate on mobile devices.
