Delicious

Delicious is a social book marking web service for storing, sharing, and discovering web bookmarks. This site was founded by Joshua Schachter in 2003 and was acquired by Yahoo in 2005. By 2008 it had 5.3 million users. This site has become very popular and beneficial to people whom like to have an organized collection of websites they like to visit frequently, under any given topic. Before discussing in further detail what delicious is, social book marking needs to first be discussed and understood. Social book Marking is a way for people to categorize, find and control information from the Internet. People usually save links to their favorites, in order to remember information and possibly go back to that specific page if needed.

Delicious.com is a website designated to allow you access to any website that you bookmark, no matter what computer you are using. This is different then just book marking websites because if your bookmark something on your computer at home, you cannot access that information anywhere else. This can be quite frustrating to people who use computers at work, school or on their mobile device. When using Delicious the best way to save links is to add a Delicious bookmarklet to your browser toolbar so you can constantly save links as your searching around the web. You can also browse on delicious, and click “save” next to any link you find interesting. Another aspect of Delicious that people might enjoy is something called stack. A stack is a group of links sharing a common theme. To do this you click “create stack” and you must have at least three links to create a stack around a certain theme. You can add descriptions to these links, add images, and even change the layout of your stack. When you have finished you just click publish to share your delicious stack.

As well as creating stacks, and book marking websites for your own benefits you can also chose to share your favorite links and stacks as well as discover other peoples. You can make your links accessible to the public, and it allows for people to explore topics that they share in common with you. You can also follow people who have topics you are interested in, and see what other stuff is out on the web that you might not have discovered yet yourself. This website is very simple to use. It allows for you to save links to websites you find interesting and access them on any computer at any time. It also allows one to search for topics they might be interested in and see what other people have discovered on the web. This is a great social book marking site to use and I would recommend it to anyone looking to for an organized way to explore the web.
