HowCast

HowCast was launched in February 2008, is a website that provides short instructional videos. It allows people to upload and watch "how to informational" videos, whenever and wherever they can. It is very similar to YouTube, where one can upload, watch, and search for any how to videos. The how to videos range from anything from, how to make a paper airplane, to how to make a Thanksgiving turkey. It has a Filmmakers Programs that allows film makers to make videos for $50 each, and will get 50% of advertising revenue from that video if it reaches over 40,000 views. This is giving the incentive for people to post videos on HowCast.com. HowCast is an easy website to operate, and has many videos right on the home screen that might interest one. The search bar is right at the top, making it easy to find one's desired "how to" video. HowCast has many visuals such as images, videos, and text. Anyone can sign up for this website, and post and watch these videos. There are also mobile applications for HowCast, and it is the number 1 instructional content mobile application in the world. The affordances for HowCast is the ability to bring all instructional videos with different content to the same website. This website allows people to learn new things, and get information on "how to" do something through videos.
