Flickr

The tool I decided to research was Flickr. Flickr is an image and video hosting website owned by Yahoo, were users share personal photographs and videos. Flickr is also being used by bloggers to share images through blogs and other such social media. There are 51 million registered users of Flickr and 80 million unique visitors to the site, and about 6 billion images. There are two types of accounts, Free and Pro. With the Free account option, you are limited to 200 photos and 2 videos a month, and if your account is inactive for 90 days Flickr has the right to delete the account. With the Free account one can only view the most recent 200 photos as well. An account holder can create a personal page, were they can upload images and videos. These account holders have the ability to make their images private or for viewing pleasure of anyone .Flickr is great in the sense that you don’t have to have an account necessarily to view images. To some, signing up for another social media website just to view content will scare some away.

Flickr allows people to share and view images with others. The first thing one sees on Flickr.com is “share your life in photos”. This is letting people interact through sharing and viewing images and videos. Users can make a photo album to share with family and friends, and post comments back and forth. Using Flickr is simple once you have an account; you upload pictures and customize how you want your page to look. Flickr makes sharing photos and videos easy for all. Although on other social media sites one can share photos and videos as well, Flickr had made it simple and easy for anyone. It has its own application of IPhones, Droids, IPads, and can be used through other social media websites. Flickr has visuals, comments, images, and easy way to interact. If someone is looking for an easy way to share photos and videos with family and friends, without having to be on Facebook I suggest using Flickr.
