Storyful: Where we can tell the story

Storyful is an online website that anyone join created by journalists that let the real stories be told. The goal of Storyful is for accurate information to cut through stories on the web that may not be as truthful or have reliable sources. Since it lets anyone join, regular citizens can post videos or write articles using the storybuilding tool. Posting a story on this site allows it to be spread on facebook and also twitter.

In an article on PBS.orb by Teresa Gorman. she talks about how this site was especially useful during the uprising in Egypt. Reporters rather they were for the site or for television and/or newspapers could use the real-life footage or stories that they could never be able to get. The people of Egypt themselves could post videos and their stories to let their voices be heard. Since it's creation,Storyful has something representing major stories throughout the world.

This tool is mostly for broadcasting. You can post multiple videos if you want on one page that relate to a certain story. People can comment on the story so there is an option for feedback. On some stories I was looking at, it will show tweets that include the link to the story and any hashtag that go with it. This site lets real people write about something the way they want to. You are getting a first hand look at the news from someone who was there or is passionate about the story.
